Ruby Quest is an interactive webcomic created by artist TGWeaver. The most well known out of Weaver's series of "quests", it originally ran from December 12th, 2008 to February 3rd, 2009 on 4chan's /tg/ board. The webcomic used a formula where "sessions" would be started by Weaver as 4chan threads, and those who were there at the time would be able to request actions for the main characters to choose, not unlike a text adventure game.
The plot follows the titular character, Ruby as she awakens in a facility known as The Metal Glen having no memory of where she was any why. She later finds and rescues another person in the facility called Tom, which leaves them working together in order to escape, but they soon find out they're not alone and that several hostile presences lie in the seemingly left to rot facility.
While not as popular as other webcomics such as Homestuck, Ruby Quest has still developed a niche community with an exceptional amount of fanart and other fan content.

Synopsis
In an unnamed year, Ruby wakes up inside a coffin-esque locker before getting out into a larger room in which she begins to tinker with her surroundings in order to find a way to escape. During this process, it's revealed by the opening of metal shutters that Ruby is located somewhere underwater. She eventually unlocks an access shaft out of the room which leads her to another room with yet another person trapped called Tom, who is locked behind bars on the other side of the room. While he starts off untrusting of Ruby, the two eventually begin to work together in order to find a way out.
While exploring another unlocked room through a Z-Hatch located in Tom's room with the help of him (who is still locked behind bars), she discovers the bloody corpse of another, who then rapidly returns to life and mutates with a split head mouth and begins chasing Ruby out of the room and back to Tom's area, in which Tom closes the access hatch to the other room with the mutated corpse caught within, decapitating it. Retrieving a key from the corpse, Ruby unlocks the bars holding Tom.
With Ruby and Tom working together, they reveal more rooms hidden behind what was seemingly a underwater view in Ruby's room, one of those rooms having a series of offline monitors. Back at the Z-Hatch room, the two discover a maintenance room with a machine to check for a "cure" of some kind. When returning to Tom's room, Tom begins to puke up blood and rapidly becomes unwell. Ruby reactivates the power grid in the maintenance room, which causes the room to lock up and begin flooding with a smokey like gas. She breaks the mirror in an attempt to get some air, only to reveal another mutated person who attempts to attack Ruby. She fights back and manages to kill the mutant in which the room shortly after unlocks itself but Ruby passes out shortly after, with Tom being nowhere to be found.
Ruby waking up believes herself to be located in her bedroom with Tom, before shortly snapping and realizing she's in another room featuring a creepy dummy which appears to be the room on the other side from the maintenance room from before. Unlocking the exit to the room leads her back to Tom's room, albeit with the man in question being nowhere to be found but manages to collect an "arsenic antidote" which was left back at her room. Moving back to the Z-Hatch room, she meets another seemingly unmutated person who calls himself "Red". Red despite his singe of hostility still helps out Ruby with reaching areas she couldn't.
Returning to the room with the monitors reveals them to be online, allowing her to cycle through a series of cameras with one of them revealing the location of Tom, still barely alive. Returning to the maintenance tube, she sends the arsenic antidote up through a tube which arrives in the area which Tom is located. Tom drinks the antidote, and Ruby keeps moving through the facility with Red. Back at the Dummy room, Red pulls down a blue tarp hanging up on the wall which reveals a strung up corpse with Red laughing with a freakish and almost impossible smile, although Ruby does not see this when she turns around.
Trying to retrieve an item that the strung up corpse is holding, the corpse grabs Ruby's arm which leads her into a short hallucination before recovering, revealing the strung up corpse is missing altogether. Ruby finds Tom back in his room but when she approaches Tom, he seemingly tries to attack Ruby before she snaps back which reveals him to be missing his right eye and the room he was located to have a newly developed gaping hole in the middle. Returning to a newly cleaned Z-Hatch room, the two retrieve a medicine bag.
While alone in the Z-Hatch room, Ruby develops a severe headache which turns out to be a rapidly developing Third Eye in her forehead, bleeding rapidly. She decides to keep this development away from the knowledge of Tom. Returning to the monitor room (with the monitors now smashed), the two unlock a room above which appears to be a hiding place for Red covered in fevered and illegible writings and diagrams.
The two attempt to solve a riddle by Red so they can enter a room he had occupied in the side of the monitor room, but they fail a riddle and are denied access. Ruby and Tom decide to take care of other matters in the meantime. Opening up a box labelled "DO NOT OPEN" back at the Dummy room reveals two different things from the perspective of the duo: Tom seeing some severed fingers and Ruby seeing a shriveled corpse which seems very familiar to herself. Returning to Red's room, they find the door open with his torn apart corpse and graffiti all over the walls.
While in the room, a large imposing figure enters the room who she recognizes as the one who put her in the locker. The two escape the room while the large figure attempts to do something with Red's body, not noticing a bomb which Red had setup next to them which explodes and collapses the area. The lights shortly after go out, revealing a crack of light from a hidden doorway in the other locker room which leads to a new area. In the newly entered room, Ruby discovers a note about herself as Subject #7 which has an extra attached note which Ruby out of fear decides to hide away and not tell Tom about.
The two decide to split up with Ruby following a staircase discovered in the new area and Tom returning to his old room to break apart a series of boards with the room seemingly no longer obeying the normal laws of physics. Ruby ends up in a small area in which Tom ends up on the larger other side of the room, which is split off by a wall. Tom discovers an accident report about Ruby having being killed with an attached photo of Ruby with some form of fatal force to the head, which he stores in order to "sort out later".
While Tom returns down to the now rapidly disintegrating ladder room, the previously thought dead mutated corpse encounters Ruby, who calls himself Stitches and faces confusion with recognizing Ruby before running off in fear of hurting Ruby. Tom returning to his side of the split room examines a diagram of the "research and diagnostics facility" they're seemingly kept in. Ruby and Tom meet face to face again and share information, with Tom informing Ruby about the growing rift in the lower levels and about Stitches in the papers having been recorded as dead.
Ruby in turn talks about everything with her notes about her being deceased, her hallucinations, her apparent involvement with "the study", her encounters with Red and her Third Eye. Tom also reveals a recent developed mutation, with him growing two arms on the lower part of his body. The two return to the lower levels to find that power had returned, and uses the collected hand of Red to access a video recording of the dummy room with Red beating Ruby and locking her inside the "DO NOT OPEN" box and an appearance from the large figure from before labeled with an ace symbol on his torso which is not shared with his current appearance.
The large figure, Ace shows up and attempts to lunge for Ruby who manages to dodge Ace's attack while Tom shoves a crowbar in his knee, albeit with Ace being seemingly unaffected as the two escape the room. Escaping back to the Z-Hatch, the two escape up a broken pipe from earlier into a new area with an unknown figure appearing on a screen in the room before it turns to static. Ruby discovers a hatch in the room leading back to the upstairs room from earlier, while Tom discovers a series of notes belonging to a journal from Red.
Red's journal details how Tom known as Subject #5 had crippled his hands in the Z-Hatch and some form of "experimental treatment" which was approved some days later on a 7th of October in which the treatments were instantly begun. However, something had gone wrong 20 days after the treatment had been put into use with the death of Subject #1 leading to Red doing a "deed" on the 29th, asking for forgiveness from god.
While in the upstairs room, they use an access card to unlock a case around a strange fetus like statue before resealing the case. Returning down stairs to the room connected between the staircase and the other locker room, they retrieve a high-clearance access card next to a bloody skull before Ace returns through the doorway connected to the other locker room, as the duo make their escape. While in the upstairs room, Tom launches a collected first aid kit at the statue case which destroys the case, activating a series of lethal traps which impale Ace as they escape to another unexplored room on the right side of the upstairs room full of lockers.
While in the locker room, they discover notes detailing about a Subject #6 who had been moved to a "Upper Lab B" due to a development of unpredictable and violent behavior. While exploring the locker room, Tom opens Locker #7 which is seemingly empty but contains a note on the side of the door saying "Don't trust 7" in Tom's handwriting. Retrieving another severed hand, the duo return to the Dummy room to access another video recording of Ruby sneaking up behind Red and cutting open Red's cheek as she is escorted off by Ace. Another recording plays where Ruby and Tom seemingly behind making out in a sealed room as Ruby reaches for a series of scalpels before cutting to a bloody scene with a seemingly dead Tom and a bloodied Ruby leaving the scene.
Tom now terrified of Ruby, forces Ruby to leave the room as she attempts to drop any weapons in hopes of regaining Tom's trust. Now on her own for the time being, Ruby explores the area around the facility and decides to use her third eye in the upstairs room, revealing a hidden picture behind a painting showing a group portrait seemingly featuring the other subjects including Ruby, Tom, Stitches and other unnamed subjects. She attempts to use her third eye again in the Locker room but something behind the wall in the Locker room causes her immense pain and bleeding which temporarily puts her third eye out of use.
With the two still having walkie-talkies, Ruby checks up on Tom who says he's okay albeit still not very talkative with Ruby. Ruby returns to the room on top of the upstairs room, using an aquired key from the locker room in order to access a hidden room inside of a locker revealing a man who recognizes Ruby called Filbert. Filbert reveals himself to be the chief doctor of the facility and that there had been an infection in the facility which led him to chopping off his right hand.
When trying to talk about a cure to the infection, Filbert tells Ruby that she already has the cure and that everyone else had consumed it before, in which it had cured any ailments such as blindness and sickness, even making it so they didn't have to eat or drink. When she had died however, the cure brought her back from the dead and something else with her. Filbert claims he's the only one untouched and that he has to escape the facility and that he has to "cut Ruby's badness out".
Ruby hits Filbert and escapes out of the room, not before Filbert revealing he had ended up infected with a rapidly growing mass where his hand used to be trying to reach out to Ruby as she holds the door shut on the other side before re locking the locker. Filbert on the screen angered tells her that Ace will get her and that Ace won't listen to him or "her" anymore and that Ace had instead taken up order from someone or something else. Ruby radios Tom on what happens and what she learned about the infection, and the unknown figure from earlier reappears on the screen and when asked about controlling Ace, the figure says she can't and apologies before the screen returns to static.
With a new room opened up by the unknown figure, she enters it to a railed area with an access to Upper Lab B and a seemingly well Stitches, which Ruby unprompted pushes off the rails and into a series of fans tearing Stitches to pieces. Ruby snaps out of it shortly after realizing it was a memory of something she had done before, not having meant to. Tom enters the area, with the two reuniting and Ruby spilling the beans on Tom.
While looking into Upper Lab B with her Third Eye and seeing a face of something inside, a dark figure appears at the corner of the room which Ruby tries to interact with before the figure turns around and the room is surrounded in darkness. Ruby attempts to use her Third Eye for guidance around the dark while Tom sways his hands trying to find some sense of direction, before Tom realises Ruby is on the edge of the rails and stops her from falling off.
While examining the previous areas, they encounter Stitches who begs to be killed but the two manage to tranquilize him with some liquid tranquilizer they had collected earlier and puts locks Stitches inside one of the lockers instead of killing him off, they also leave the group photo Ruby had discovered earlier with him. Back at Filbert's room, they unlock further access upwards the building into Staff Wing 4. They attempt to access the other staff wings but the opening the door reveals a massive gaping maw which they close the door on.
The duo return to the Dummy room where Ruby attempts to use her Third Eye which contains an echo of the corpse strung up before, but also another echo which causes her intense pain but yet one that "feels strangely good" and one that "deep down, Ruby wants to feel forever". Using a key retrieved from the Staff Wing, they access Upper Lab B containing Subject #6 who calls himself Tom. Subject #6 believes Ruby to be Lucy, another subject. Subject #6 lends Ruby a key to access Filbert's office while he asks for a favor for some scissors. Tom turns on the light switch, revealing Subject #6 to be connected to a massive mass of flesh and eyes covering the room and the two flee.
Entering the newly accessable Filbert's office, they find more objects of note including a note from Filbert reassuring himself that he has amnesia which isn't something to worry about and that he is still clean. Some more notes reveal that Red had been refusing to take the medicine treatment and that the superiors of the facility had been notified, who instructed Filbert to order Ace to begin treating Red's rations with the medicine. Another note revealed that he had also euthanized Subject #2, Maddie in order to test the cure in assurance that she will return.
While retrieving a security access card in the room above the Z-Hatch room, Filbert climbs out of the pipes horribly mutated still attempting to "cut the bad" out of Ruby and now Tom. Filbert and Tom brawl with Filbert temporarily taken out by scalpel and a dose of tranquilizer. The duo access the Security Station through the Staff Wing, revealing a large console and a series of notes showing the decline of the facility through the perspective of others. Even though the console is unusable due to a security override, the two are still able to access the entrance lobby due to the door being left open in which they meet the unknown figure they've been seeing across the screens.
The unknown figure seemingly attached to an excessive amount of life support introduces herself as Bella and says that the facility was abandoned after events on November 1st had led to violence between patients and staff, with her superiors enforcing the lockdown of the facility for Bella to handle. Bella reveals its been atleast a year since those events had occurred and that "this situation" had played out dozens of times before but that Ruby had only come to meet her 3 times before and that this was as far as she had gotten before.
Bella asks Ruby and Tom to kill her, and that in turn killing her will no longer force the facility to be in lockdown. With no other choice, Tom and Ruby kill Bella by injecting air into Bella's bloodstream and disconnecting her from life support which causes a minor systems shutdown. After reactivating the power and a short encounter with Subject #6 which leaves the console unoperational and requiring access by another console in the facility.
Returning to the locker room, they find a hidden Cold Storage room behind lockers 3 and 4 revealing "the mouth of madness", a room full of red and coated with symbols and what appears to be a mutated form of the Dummy from the Dummy room. While in the room, they find someone attached and stuck inside the water filtration unit who asks for the two to kill him but they refuse and detach him from the filtration unit. In the back of the room, a locker opens to reveal Ace who's body had become nothing short of unnatural and his shirt now showcasing the same symbol painted onto the walls of Cold Storage.
Tom takes the newly saved Jay to the entrance while Ruby splits off in order to find the downstairs console to unlock the exit. Tom encounters a reawakened Filbert and they brawl for the last time, with Tom ripping apart Filbert to pieces. Ruby access the console at her room and unlocks the surface access as she begins to make her way up back to the entrance, finding Subject #6 clumped in the corner in fear of Ace, with Ruby unable to help him. Tom prepares to stay behind in order to fight Ace, but Filbert having made his way out of the locker attacks Ace. Tom uses this opportunity to escape with Ruby and Jay and close the entrance behind them.
Jay is loaded onto a tram as Ruby and Tom hop on, and send the tram driving away from the facility.
Through an additional note post ending, its revealed Subject #6 was actually Subject #5, and an appearance of one more scene showing the newly reformed mutant from the maintenance room, Daisy waking up in a locker just like Ruby.

The comic would be followed up by a spiritual successor starting a few months after the ending of Ruby Quest called Nan Quest.

The comic would be followed up by a spiritual successor starting a few months after the ending of Ruby Quest called Nan Quest.
Synopsis
During some unknown time period, Ruby, a rabbit wakes up inside a locker and finds herself in a strange room unfamiliar to her, seemingly underwater with a discovery of a previously gated window. After solving a series of puzzles not unlike an escape room, she finds her way out of her room and into another room split in half with a series of bars, with her on one side and a cat called "Tom" on the other side of the room. Although uncooperative at first, Tom eventually works together with Ruby in order to find some way to free Tom and for the both of them to escape.
While in another room, Ruby discovers a bloodied corpse of a bear tucked away in a closet which horrifyingly comes back to life chasing after Ruby with a grotesque mutation having made it's head now a split head with a gaping maw. Ruby narrowly escapes the reanimated corpse with Tom shutting a vent door on it, causing it to become decapitated. Shortly after, Ruby manages to raise the bars and free Tom. Unlocking a secret path in the locker room, the two venture through and come across more strange puzzles in order to progress through the facility.
While exploring the facility, doing so, Tom begins to develop a severe sickness which forces Ruby to continue progressing while seeking some kind of fix to his sickness. Ruby ends up getting locked inside a room and attacked by a mutated hound which she kills but shortly passes out after. Shortly after waking up in a completely different room, Ruby encounters a fox who calls himself "Red" who offers to work with Ruby but also threatens her several times before leaving her behind.
Going back to the cage room, Ruby finds Tom again but with his right eye torn out. While the two are separated in different rooms, Ruby begins to mutate with a third eye growing out of her forehead which she decides to keep secret from Tom for the time being. After being previously rejected by Red, Ruby and Tom find a way into Red's secret room and discover his self inflicted, impaled corpse in. Shortly after discovering the body and a self built bomb, a large imposing figure, "Ace" who Ruby remembers was the one who put her in the locker room enters the room, attempting to pull out Red's corpse while the two flee the room before the bomb blows up, collapsing the area and causing the power to temporarily fail in the region they've explored.
Thanks to the power outage, Ruby and Tom discover a secret door in the locker room which leads to more of the facility. While exploring the new area, Ruby finds a redacted document about herself showing she had willingly volunteered for a "treatment" and attached to the note, is a statement from Ace declaring her deceased which she keeps from Tom. While the two are split up, Tom discovers an accident report of Ruby, known as "Subject #7" having suffered a fatal injury to her head, which he stores for himself to talk about later.
Ruby encounters yet again the reanimated bear, "Stitches" albeit more intact and unhostile. Stitches shortly after being talked to flees in fear of hurting Ruby again. After Ruby and Tom reunite, the two spill the beans on each other, with Tom also discussing a mutation of his, having developed two extra arms on the lower part of his body. After an encounter and escape from Ace, the two discover recordings of Ruby in the past acting violent with one of them including her seemingly fatally killing Tom which causes Tom in the present to push Ruby away from him out of fear and anger.
While on her own, Ruby encounters a staff of the facility "Filbert" who proclaims himself to be clean and attempts to "cut the bad" out of Ruby before she flees with Filbert angrily warning her that Ace no longer listens to him or "her" but something else instead. Ruby experiences a flashback with her pushing a normal Stitches over railings to his death, before Tom reunites with Ruby having seemingly calmed down. After an encounter with Stitches who attacks the duo demanding to be killed before being put in a locker, the two encounter a previously noted aggressive "Subject #6" who also calls himself Tom.
After receiving a key from Subject #6 and proceeding to flee due to the extent of his mutations, the two encounter a heavily mutated Filbert who attempts to attack the two but is temporarily halted with tranquilizer. Nearing the exit of the facility, the two encounter the previously mentioned by Filbert "Bella", who has been forced to oversee the facility post-lockdown with life support.
She informs Ruby and Tom that they've been in a cycle of trying to escape and dying for a year now and that they've only reached this point three times now. For the sake of releasing security control and for her own demands, Ruby and Tom pull the life support on Bella which kills her and allows the exit to be unlocked back in the facility. While going back through the facility to unlock the exit, the two discover Ace's secret room which reveals him to be heavily mutated and seemingly under the control of an unknown malevolent power.
Rescuing a bird called "Jay", the two split up with Tom bringing Jay to the exit while Ruby goes down to unlock the exit. Tom encounters an awakened Filbert who Tom finishes off by tearing off his limbs and head. The two reunite at the exit with Tom planning to sacrifice himself to fight Ace, before Filbert having escaped his locker attacks Ace, letting Tom escape with Ruby.
Ruby, Tom and Ace escape the facility by an attached tram to the mainland. A post ending scene reveals that the "Subject #6" from earlier was actually Subject #5, and that Tom was Subject #6. Another post ending scene shows the mutated hound from earlier now reformed, "Daisy" waking up in a locker just like Ruby from the beginning.

Nan Quest is an interactive webcomic created by TGWeaver, and is the spiritual successor to Ruby Quest. The comic ran from October 2009 to June 2015, the time being much larger than its predecessor due to various reasons involving hiatuses, one of which taking up nearly two whole years. Nan Quest was ran on the site TGChan, which would later become known as Questden.
The plot follows the titular character Nan as she gets ready to do electrician work at a seemingly normal hotel, but things rapidly turn for the worse as the hotel begins to shift and change outside the norms of reality with hostile entities wanting her dead. She teams up with other hotel residents who have become trapped in order to find a way out of the grasp of the hotel, as they dive deeper into the truth behind the hotel, and those inside it.
